Crazy Frog Sectioned

Computer animated musician and humanitarian amphibian, The Crazy Frog, was involuntarily committed to the Psychiatric Intensive Care Unit at Hull Royal infirmary in the late hours of last night under the Mental Health Act 1983. The Crazy Frog, or Annoying Thing as he is sometimes known, was reported to have experienced a long series of mental health issues since his initial rise to fame in 2005.

Originally from Gothenburg, Sweden, The Crazy Frog has resided in Hull for the past ten years with his wife of eleven years, Leanne Frog and two sons, Pablo and Crazy Junior. Having experienced a meteoric climb to stardom in the mid-2000s, The Crazy Frog made a name for himself as a brash, unapologetic performer and wowed audiences with his uncanny ability to imitate motorbike sounds while inexplicably levitating. Despite reaching UK No.1 with his accapella rendition of Harold Faltermeyer’s ‘Axel F’, selling more than 694,00 copies, The Crazy Frog was never without his critics, many of whom argued that the record charts should be reserved “Strictly for humans” and that "anthropomorphic amphibians have no place in British music.”

“Warning signs were clear from the beginning. He made almost all of his public appearances naked and had continuous delusions regarding motorcycles.”

Since releasing his first album, ‘Crazy Hits’, The Annoying Thing has suffered a number of severe mental health episodes. In 2011 he was diagnosed with Bipolar Disorder, of which he spoke honestly in his 2015 autobiography ‘The Crazy Thing Is…’ Herbert Plunquin, The Crazy Frog’s longstanding agent said this in a recent interview with Piers Morgan on some poxy podcast that Morgan has started since prancing off of Good Morning Britain, “We always knew that stardom would be a dangerous thing for Crazy. He was a firecracker, his emotions, I mean. He could go from being the happiest frog in the world to being a terribly, terribly depressed frog. The warning signs were clear from the beginning. He made almost all of his public appearances naked and had continuous delusions regarding motorcyles. We offered to buy him a bike about six, maybe seven times, and he always insisted he didn’t need two.”

At the peak of his career, drug use became a serious issue for The Crazy Frog, having survived a nearly fatal overdose of heroin in 2006. He spoke of this on Loose Women last year, “I remember, it was in July, we had just released ‘More Crazy Hits’ and the crazy World Cup finals were on. Italy v France. I missed the Fabio Grosso goal because I was crazy puking in Will.I.Am’s en-suite but I heard everyone cheering. Next thing I knew, I was in a hospital bed, three days later. That’s when I thought I’d gotten too crazy to handle.”

Fans around the world are rallying in support of The Annoying Thing, with Twitter and Facebook flooding support for the musician and a speedy recovery.

Mental health charity MIND has been quick to highlight that even the most seemingly fine of us, such as The Crazy Frog, can still be enduring mental health crises. As ever, it is of utmost importance that we reach out to those close to us and offer support in listening and reassuring whenever we feel someone may be crazy suffering.
